Stepping Stones event on Thursday, February 23rd that celebrates the strength and resiliency of women. Join us for an evening of inspiration and art, plus experience the transformative power of compassion. Together, we will:
· Hear from the shelter guests and see the art they have created.
· Honor local women who are champions for the homeless— June Backus and Carolyn Gray.
· Hear from Roberta Goodman, former manager of the Empress Hotel, who will speak about the transformative power of the arts.
· Enjoy a delicious five course meal, and music by the Hartnell College Big Band.
· Find fun and unique items to purchase in our Silent Auction
All proceeds directly benefit the continuation and enhancement of Women Alive! Emergency Shelter! Our shelter was started on a shoestring, but the demand is growing and our facilities are aging. Women Alive! has many needs, but none that a compassionate community can’t overcome:
· A new floor
· Repairs to our shower facilities
· Equipment and supplies for enrichment activities to make the shelter the clean, bright place these women deserve
· And, eventually, a transitional housing facility for our guests
You can increase your awareness of the plight of homeless women both through individual event participation and family/company sponsorship. If you can't attend, there are options to advertise your support or to make a direct gift to the program.
